‘A little bit of everything’: A Houston business woman is living her dream
The life of a business owner isn’t always easy.
There’s the usual things like managing a small office and keeping things running smoothly.
There are the big projects like the ones you have to complete every day to meet your deadlines.
Then there’s the daily challenges that come along with it, like scheduling and dealing with customer feedback.
But business owner and founder of the Houston business magazine Business Casual Female, Ashley Brown, thinks her daily grind of doing all of that is worth it, especially when it comes to the women she works with.
Brown, who is also the founder of her own business, BCLG, started BCLGS, which translates to “Blessed Ladies, We’re Doing Business,” in 2015, after she got married and got pregnant.
It is a blog for business owners, which includes women, that aims to highlight their successes and help them find and maintain success.
She has since created the website BCLGs.com, which allows women to share their stories, tips and insights.
Brown has noticed that business owners tend to be a little bit more comfortable speaking up, so she decided to do a little more than just give them a daily update.
She decided to take on the role of a blogger and share her experiences with women, so people would know how to keep their businesses afloat and how to stay connected with their customers.
“If you’re not doing it the right way, it’s not going to be sustainable, so it’s better to be an entrepreneur and be a good entrepreneur than not be an amazing entrepreneur,” Brown said.
“I like the challenge, I like being an entrepreneur, and I like the satisfaction that comes from doing that.”
Brown started BclGs.org to give women an outlet for their business.
She created the site to help her stay connected to her clients, her family, her friends and her community.
She also created a weekly business-focused newsletter, The BCLGC Newsletter, which features business owners and business owners-in-training from around the world, sharing tips and tricks on running a successful business.
In addition to BCLGL, Brown is also launching her own website, BclG’s Kitchen, which aims to make the best and most delicious recipes for Houston’s foodie crowd.
The goal is to provide a hub for women to come together to share recipes, share their experiences, and make sure they have everything they need to succeed in the kitchen.
“I think a lot of women who don’t want to get married or have kids don’t realize that they have options,” Brown told Ars.
“And the idea is to make it a little easier for women.”
